What does IT consultants insurance cover?

Public liability insurance provides cover for your legal liability in the event of property damage to another persons property or injury to a person whilst carrying out your work. Cover is typically available for £1M, £2M or £5M limit of indemnity although higher limits are available if required.

Employers' liability insurance is required by law if you employ any direct staff or labour only sub-contractors. Cover is for injury to employees whilst working on your behalf and is for a standard £10M limit of indemnity.

Professional indemnity provides cover for your legal liability for any negligent error, ommission or advice provided by you during the course of your work. This can be insured from £100,000 upwards, although we would always recommend that you purchase the maximum that you can comfortably afford as the awards paid by courts could well be in excess of this figure.
